Bounty Hunter TK4 Tracker IV review
Before I start this Bounty Hunter TK4 Tracker IV review I must say I have never been a big fan of the Bounty Hunter Detectors, there are better entry level detectors out there, however none of them are as good as the TK4 in this price range, at under $100, the Bounty Hunter TK4 Tracker IV is one of the best very low budget, entry level metal detectors on the market – a good choice for the beginner.
It is set up as an all-in-one multi-purpose machine, that doesn’t overwhelm the user with settings or adjustments. Because of this there is a trade off in terms of depth and separation, but it is by no means a poor performer.
It operates effectively on saltwater beaches and on mineralized inland grounds, with an automatic ground balancing feature, allowing you to bypass any background detection of soil elements. It does not however have a pin pointer, so once you find a target your digging won’t be 100% accurate. But that’s part of the fun right?
It’s two core modes including all-metal for generalized hunting, and discrimination mode to weed out iron and trash. It also has a 2-tone audio functionality, though there is no real volume control.
While the more experienced hunters want the ability to tweak settings for specific hunts, the Bounty Hunter TK4 Tracker IV does not have this ability, is more for general coin hunting, as well as limited jewellery and relic hunting.
Powered by 2 x 9-volt batteries, the Tracker IV is comfortably designed and fairly lightweight, so you won’t be strained on long sessions.
Its only real con is that it doesn’t have a graphic target indicator display, but the low cost certainly makes up for lack of such features.
However if you are able to spend a little bit more money (up in to the $200+ range) have a look at this Garrett Ace 250 review, its another budget detector but not as “entry level” as the TK4 Tracker IV. I have done my best to keep my review of the Bounty Hunter TK4 Tracker IV as fair as I can and its not a bad detector at all but keep in mind, this is not the kind of model that will suit the long time enthusiast, but for children or those just starting out, and wanting to see if this hobby is for them with out spend a lot of money then it does that job well.
